Construction of the bus hub opposite the joint inspection building at Zhongshan Passenger Port was in full swing on October 27.

The project is targeted for completion by the end of this year. Once open, passengers can step off the ferry and head straight to the underground bus hub, which connects directly to the joint inspection building, keeping the entire transfer indoors.

The hub has 110 bus bays, plus a 702-square-meter sunken plaza and supporting stairs, lifts and escalators. From the arrival hall, passengers take a lift or escalator down to the first basement level and enter the hub through a connecting passage.

Under the plan, the Zhongshan-Zhuhai Intercity Railway will have two fully underground stations on Ma'an Island — Cuiheng New District Station and Passenger Port Station. Passenger Port Station will sit about 2.5 kilometers in a straight line from Zhongshan Passenger Port. Once the line opens, direct bus routes from the hub will link the stations on Ma'an Island with Nanlang Station.
