A meeting on military recruitment for the second half of 2021 was held in Zhongshan on the afternoon of July 8. The meeting summarized the conscription so far this year and clarified major goals for the rest of the year.

In the first half of 2021, a total of 4,935 people applied online to join the army, among which 291 passed the physical and political examination and 250 were approved to join the army. A total of 234 of these were college students, making up 93.6% of all recruits, and including 116 college graduates, making up 48% of all recruits.

In the second half, Zhongshan plans to recruit 350 new soldiers (including female soldiers). As of July 7, there were 4,080 online applicants, including 1,712 college students and 722 college graduates.
