Activity held to attract PhDs returned from overseas

The 2024 Zhongshan Talent Introduction Conference for PhDs Returned from Overseas was held at the International Science and Innovation Center in Cuiheng New District on February 28. More than 100 returned overseas PhD holders from over 20 countries and regions, who graduated from top global universities such as Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, Cambridge University and Oxford University, attended the conference.

"I have been in Zhongshan for five years since I started my own business here. The Zhongshan government has provided great policy support to talents and excellent guidance to entrepreneurs," said Hung-fai Poon, a representative of returned overseas PhD holders and founder of QuaCell Biotechnology Co, at the activity through video link. He also shared his experience and stories of entrepreneurship in Zhongshan.

During the activity, six returned overseas PhD holders signed letters of intent with the Zhongshan Institute for Drug Discovery, Zhongshan Institute of Changchun University of Science and Technology, Zhongshan Chip Carrier Semiconductor Company Limited, Macao-Zhongshan Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park, Zhongshan Overseas Students Pioneer Park and Zhongshan Health Base Group.

A ceremony was also held to present letters of appointment to "Zhongshan Overseas Chinese Talent Recruiment Advisors" including Prof Wang Ximeng with the California State University.
