The research base for Making Techniques of Traditional Pastries and Cakes of Minzhong, a municipal intangible cultural heritage item of Zhongshan, was unveiled at Zhongshan Yongwei Food Co Ltd. It is the first ICH research base in Minzhong Sub-district.

On that day, the first baking class of traditional pastries and cakes attracted many teenagers and their parents from Minzhong and surrounding areas.

To welcome tourists from Shenzhen and other Greater Bay Area cities, the research base plans to establish a cake-making factory museum to showcase traditional cake-making techniques, processes, history and culture. It will also provide opportunities for visitors to make pastries by hand.

In recent years, Minzhong Sub-district has continuously strengthened the exploration, protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage. Following Rice Bucket Racing, two ICH items, namely Making Techniques of Traditional Pastries and Cakes and Traditional Making Techniques of Sandun Braised Goose were both included in the municipal library of intangible cultural heritage last month.
