To celebrate this year's Mid-Autumn Festival, the School of Finance, Business, and Trade at Zhongshan Torch Polytechnic organized a special event on September 5 with the theme of "Mid-Autumn Reunion with Love."

The event brought together about 20 international students and their Chinese classmates, who were invited by their teachers to experience the art of making mooncakes by hand at the Juxiangyuan (Zuixiangyuan) Museum of Cake Culture. The goal was to foster a sense of reunion and camaraderie among students and teachers. In addition, it was also a further opportunity for students to gain a deeper understanding of Chinese traditional culture spirit.

"This is my first time making mooncakes by myself," said Faysal, a student from Tanzania. "It's been such an interesting experience. I'm pleasantly surprised by the customs of the Mid-Autumn Festival, and the mooncakes turned out so delicious." As he enjoyed the mooncakes he made, Faysal was highly delighted and full of joy, saying that whilst studying and living in Zhongshan, he is always so very happy that the teachers and classmates are all so very friendly and kind to him. He enjoys many aspects of Zhongshan, including the very scenic beauty of the city and surrounding areas.

Yang Feifei, a teacher at the school, remarked that the participation of the International students in this activity provided an opportunity, not only to learn and practice the ancient Chinese traditional skills of making mooncakes, but also to experience an introduction to the charm of Chinese traditional culture. Meanwhile, the mooncakes they made would be a permanent and sweet memory for both International and Chinese students.

In the near future, the school is proposing to provide many more activities such as this to provide further Chinese cultural experiences and allow International students to gain a better understanding of the various charms of Chinese culture.
