The final bell rang out on the afternoon of June 9, marking the end of this year's national college entrance exam, commonly known as the gaokao.

After three days' intense desk work, some 21,000 Zhongshan students stepped out of exam halls, having completed the pivotal test of their youth.

Results are expected around June 25, with college applications running from June 27 to July 5.
