September 1 marked the start of the 2026 autumn semester in Zhongshan, with about 780,000 students from primary and secondary schools and kindergartens across the city returning to class.

Several new schools opened this autumn, and a batch of school renovation-and-expansion projects have been completed, further expanding and improving the city's capacity for school places.

Currently, Zhongshan has 28 general senior high schools with 71,000 students, and 7 secondary vocational schools with 31,000 students.
