Of recent, the Zhongshan Sub-Center of the Medical Alliance for Hypertension was officially established in the Zhongshan People's Hospital. Zhongshan patients with hypertension will be able to receive high-standard and unified services.

The sub-center is headed by Feng Li, Director of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Zhongshan People's Hospital. There are 20 hospitals including Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Zhongshan and Zhongshan Bo'ai Hospital, and 14 community-based health service centers that participated.

As introduced, after the launch of the Zhongshan Sub-Center of the Medical Alliance for Hypertension, a four-level linkage model has been formed with the National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases, the provincial centers, the sub-centers in cities and counties, and the grass-roots member units as the key units. Unified management platform, quality evaluation, doctor training program and communication and education shall also be implemented within the medical alliance.

Related investigations show that the awareness rate of hypertension in Zhongshan is 31.6%, the treatment rate is 23.2%, and the control rate is 7.3%, all of which are still at a low level. (from Zhongshan Daily and Guangzhou Daily)
