The Zhongshan People's Hospital (ZSPH) on April 2 opened a separate pain medicine department to address the problem of chronic pain, bringing new hope for the recovery of the vast number of patients.

"In the past, patients suffered from pain in the waist, leg, shoulder, etc had no idea which department they should go for treatment. Now this special department has been set up for better targeted treatment," said Yuan Yong, director of the ZSPH.

"The establishment of the pain medicine department, on the one hand, is to satisfy patients' needs. At present, the life expectancy in Zhongshan City has reached 80 years old, and many elderly people suffer from chronic pain." Yuan Yong added. "On the other hand, the specialists we have sent to the United States and to major domestic specialized institutions for further study, have accumulated rich experience in recent years, so the therapeutic results are very good.”

It is reported that the pain medicine department is aimed at patients with chronic pain, and the most important treatment method is tiny traumatic interventional treatment, which is more easily accepted by patients than other therapies.
