The Zhongshan Medical Security Management Center, Guangdong Province's first medical security agency in a prefecture-level city, was established on July 1.

The center is mainly responsible for the handling and management of medical security at the municipal level (including basic medical care, supplementary medical care, serious illness insurance, maternity insurance, medical assistance and medical security for retired personnel, management of designated medical institutions and pharmacies, etc), and the drafting, implementation and business guidance of relevant handling procedures in Zhongshan.

The center has been handling medical security business comprehensively and independently since July 1.
