The 2020 Zhongshan Working Conference for the Disabled was held on January 20. The meeting to review and summarize the achievements made in 2020 and to deploy the objectives and key tasks for 2021 in terms of work concerning the disabled.

According to the conference, the Zhongshan Care Center for the Disabled which is located on the 1st and 2nd floors of the Zhongshan Assistive Devices Service Center for the Disabled on Nanjiang Road will be put into operation in July this year. The care center will provide life skills training, rehabilitation treatment, training and education, employment assistance and other services for about 40 intellectually disabled, mentally disabled (including autism), and severely disabled people within the range of 16 years old to the mandatory retirement age.

The meeting also proposed to continue to improve educational opportunities for the disabled so as to increase the proportion of educated school-age disabled children, and by the end of 2021, the enrollment rate of school-age disabled children in Zhongshan should exceed 96%.
