Three residents with over three years of vitiligo sought treatment at Zhongshan City People's Hospital (ZSPH) on July 17. Physicians prescribed Opzelura (ruxolitinib) cream, a drug ZSPH recently introduced through the "Measure of using HK registered drugs and medical devices used in HK public hospitals in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" policy.
Hospital staff retrieved the medication from the dedicated window for the policy and instructed patients on proper use. This inaugural prescription marks Opzelura as one of the policy's first approved therapies.
The policy is a national-level initiative fostering medical collaboration in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It establishes a regulatory pathway for licensed importation and using of Hong Kong/Macao-registered drugs and medical devices to designated healthcare institutions operating in the GBA.
