Since January 1, 2020, Zhongshan has once again raised the subsistence allowance for urban and rural residents from 1,050 yuan/month to 1,100 yuan/month, an increase of 4.8%.

This is the 14th increase since Zhongshan began to implement the subsistence allowance system in 1997.

With the improvement of the subsistence allowance standard, the new identification standard for low-income families will be adjusted to 1.5 times of the previous standard, with the adjustment ranging from 1,101 yuan/month to 1,650 yuan/month.

In addition, the elderly, minors, students (undergraduate level and below), members of single-parent families, severely disabled, seriously ill and other citizens covered by classified subsistence programs will receive additional assistance according to the new standard of 440 yuan/person every month.

The basic subsistence allowance for people living in dire poverty was adjusted to 1,760 yuan, which is 1.6 times of the common subsistence allowance standard. The basic living subsistence standard for orphans under foster care is adjusted to 1,550 yuan according to the full guarantee standard for minors among the low-income recipients.
