The Zhongshan Rural Revitalization Bureau was inaugurated on the morning of June 8. It marks the smooth and orderly of adjustment and optimization of poverty alleviation institutions in Zhongshan. The city will expand the focus of its "Agriculture, Village and Farmer" work from just poverty alleviation to all-round rural revitalization.

The Zhongshan Rural Revitalization Bureau will replace the Zhongshan Poverty Alleviation and Development Office and will focus on the overall coordination, policy guidance, implementation, supervision, and inspection of rural revitalization as well as have responsibility for expanding the achievements of poverty alleviation. The Bureau will take the lead in rural construction and coordinating rural governance to promote comprehensive rural revitalization.

Since 2016, there have been 2 main arenas in Zhongshan's fight against poverty. The first is to help 131 poor villages in Zhaoqing and Chaozhou cities in Guangdong; the second is to join forces in the poverty alleviation efforts of 4 counties in Yunnan Province, including Daguan, Yanjin, Suijiang and Yongshan.
