The first set of intelligent digital garbage sorting and recycling bins in East District have been put into use in Langqingxuan Community. Zhongshan currently has 26 intelligent garbage sorting and recycling bins in use.

A new intelligent bin stands in a corner of Langqingxuan Community. There are 4 compartments for different kinds of waste in the garbage bin. Residents can put recyclable domestic garbage such as cartons, plastic bottles, metal, and glass into each different slot.

An automatic-weighing tray is equipped in each bin. Once any garbage is put in, the system will automatically display a convertible points rewards system for the garbage. Residents can exchange their points for recyclable garbage bags, scouring pads, supermarket cash coupons, and other rewards.

As of September, a total of 1,177 public institutions across Zhongshan participate in the garbage classification campaign, and 324 pilot communities have been set up. East District and Xiaolan Town have become model garbage classification town (district).
