This year's Spring Festival travel rush will last for 40 days from January 17 to February 25. Zhongshan held a meeting on January 6 to deliberate and deploy related work.
This year, some 4,747,400 outbound passengers are predicted to travel on roads and waterways during the upcoming Spring Festival travel rush, 11.21% less than last year, including 100,200 inter-province passengers via roadways, a year-on-year decrease of 18.13%, and 273,200 inter-city travelers, a year-on-year decrease of 21.79%. Meanwhile, it is estimated that some 876,000 outbound passengers will travel by rail, up 21.73% from last year.
Intra-province passengers will mainly leave for Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Huizhou, while the inter-province passengers mainly for Guangxi, Hunan, Sichuan and Jiangxi.
The passenger flow peak before the Spring Festival is estimated to occur from January 28 to January 31, while post-festival passenger flow peak is expected to occur from February 6 to February 10.
Despite the impact of the epidemic, the railway passenger flow is expected to rise significantly from last year. It is estimated that some 854,000 passengers will set off from, and 1.087 million passengers will arrive at, the six railway stations in Zhongshan (Nantou, Xiaolan, Zhongshan North, Zhongshan, Nanlang and Guzhen) during the 40-day Spring Festival travel rush.
The Zhongshan Health Bureau suggests that travel and the gatherings should be minimized during the period. It is recommended that the general public avoid unnecessary trips out of Zhongshan or Guangdong province, avoid traveling to medium and high-risk areas, and avoid unnecessary travel to cities with border ports outside of Guangdong.
At present, free nucleic acid testing service is available at 66 sampling sites across Zhongshan for people coming or returning to Zhongshan from other provinces.
