June 9 marked International Archives Day, and Zhongshan Archives will make some archives accessible to the public.
The open archives cover the period from 1919 to 1999. There are 95,448 cases involving 17 administrations including the Zhongshan County Government (during the Republic of China period), the Standing Committee of the Zhongshan Municipal People's Congress after the founding of the People's Republic of China, municipal organs and enterprises, and etc. The contents mainly include all kinds of notices, regulations, work summaries, appointments and dismissals of cadres, individual/collective commendations, and other materials involving agriculture, machinery, animal husbandry, lighting industry, business administration, civil affairs, foreign trade, and towns and district conditions.
All Chinese citizens and organizations holding legal certificates can go to the Zhongshan Archives to consult the open archives during working hours. Foreign individuals and organizations must hold a letter of introduction from related departments and obtain the consent of the Zhongshan Archives before consulting these archives.
Individuals and organizations can also log onto the official website of the Zhongshan Archives (www.zsda.cn) and click on the "Open Archives" (开放档案) column to consult the catalogue of open archives.
