After a year of construction, by the end of 2022, Zhongshan had basically fulfilled its annual target to build up 31 Xiangshan New Street Markets, including Zhuyuan Market and Wangu Seafood Market in East District.

"When you see a sign like this, you can recognize that this is not a traditional farmer market, but one of the brand new 'Xiangshan New Street Markets'," said Chen Jiantao, an official of the Zhongshan Administration for Market Regulation, pointing at the tablet at the entrance of Zhuyuan Market.

In Zhuyuan Market, there is no rubbish and waste water on the ground. Merchants are dressed in uniform aprons reading "Xiangshan New Street Market", and each stall served uniform plastic bags.

"Two new sweepers are also used to ease the burden of cleaners and improve work efficiency," said Kong Dexian, head of Zhuyuan Market.
