Zhongshan has launched a trade-in scheme for home appliances, offering subsidy coupons to individual consumers who sell their old home appliances to participating home appliance retailers in Zhongshan and then purchase specified types of eco-friendly smart home appliances or electronic devices.

The subsidies would cover up to 10% of the selling price of newly purchased home appliances, not exceeding 500 yuan per piece (set), and not exceeding 2,000 yuan for an individual consumer.

The scheme covers 17 specified types of home appliances and electronic devices, including air conditioners (central air conditioning), refrigerators (freezers) and washing machines (clothes dryers).

The scheme is launched to encourage consumers to replace old, high-energy consumption home appliances with new, eco-friendly and intelligent ones. The subsidies will be valid from May 1 to August 31, and each consumer is eligible to enjoy the subsidies up to four times.
