Zhongshan Passenger Port has activated facial recognition fast clearance and a 240-hour visa-free transit policy since November 5. 

The exit inspection hall now features three smart lanes where passengers can complete "face scan" verification in under 10 seconds through automatic biometric matching.

Eligible travelers include:

• Mainland residents aged 14+ with valid HK/Macao travel permits bearing multiple-entry endorsements (stay, family visit, business, talent, or other categories);

• HK/Macao residents (including non-Chinese citizens) holding valid mainland travel permits;

• Taiwan residents with 5-year mainland travel permits;

All must consent to facial/fingerprint data collection for border checks. Minors/vulnerable persons require guardian accompaniment.

Exclusions apply to:

• Mainland residents holding official travel documents;

• Tourists with single-entry HK/Macao travel permits.

Document exemption at fast lanes does not mean no physical document required. All cross-boundary travelers must carry valid entry/exit documents as HK/Macao authorities will conduct document checks.
