Kenneth Siu, a Chinese American, was born and grew up in a poor family in Nanwen community, Dachong town, Zhongshan city. When he was young, his parents were too poor to seek medical treatment when they got sick. After his parents passed away, Kenneth found a way to get ahead. Later he applied to work in the United States.
After working seven days a week in the America, Kenneth used the money he earned to buy properties. Whenever he has free time, he always returns to his hometown to donate money for education, raise funds for the elderly, and visit his fellow villagers.
"After I left my hometown, I sold our ancestral home. With my parents still alive, I wasn't able to fulfill my filial duties, and that is my lifelong regret. But no matter how far I go, this place will always be my starting point, my roots," he said.
