Dr. Gay Q.Yuen, an advocate of bilingual education & Chinese culture in the US, recognized as "California Women Making Herstory", is the Board Chair of the Friends of the Chinese American Museum in Los Angeles. Recently, she returned to her hometown, Xiangjiao Village in Zhongshan's Shaxi Town, and paid a special visit to the Xiangjiao Primary School and the Xiangjiao History Museum which is currently under preparation.
During her visit, Yuen shared her life story. Since her first trip back to China in 1973, she has returned multiple times and has witnessed the remarkable changes in her hometown. "I'm happy to see my village thriving like this. The local government also has an idea to collect the history of the village, especially the stories of villagers who went abroad. I believe we can organize various exchange activities. My goal is to help everyone to trace their roots." Yuen said.
