The Mid-Autumn Festival, one of China's most cherished traditional festivals, is just around the corner, ushering in the peak season for mooncake sales. Zhongshan, a renowned hometown of overseas Chinese, is also a key production and export hub for Cantonese mooncakes.

According to Zhongshan Customs data, Zhongshan exported more than 600 tonnes of mooncakes in the first 8 months of this year, worth over 40 million yuan.

A single mooncake is more than a festive treat that soothes the homesickness of overseas Chinese — it also carries the cultural legacy of China, allowing the "Oriental romance" of Mid-Autumn reunion to waft its fragrance across the world.
