Zhongshan City received up to 4.49 million tourists during the May Day Holiday 2019, according to the Zhongshan Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau. Family travels, such as parent-child travels and study trips, have become popular and encouraged the consumption of cultural, leisure, catering and rural tourism.

Distinctive cultural tourism created by integrating tourism products with different new elements, also referred to as "tourism plus", became the highlights of the May Day holiday. Literary arts, museums, ecological tourism among others, were popular as the users' searching data revealed. 

A large number of tourists from other cities of Guangdong Province visited Zhongshan during the May Day holiday, with those from Zhuhai, Guangzhou and Foshan accounting for 12.3%, 10.5% and 7.8% respectively.

Many tourists from other provinces came to Zhongshan as well, with those from Guangxi, Hunan and Sichuan accounting for 32%, 12.2% and 7.7% respectively. 

With regard to inbound tourists, those from Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan account for 37%, 30% and 10% respectively.
