Shanzhou Village of Torch Development Zone is located next to the relics of the Defense of Hengmen, and has now completely changed out of its former state as a poor village. In recent years, Torch Development Zone has invested manpower, materials and financial resources to fully revitalize "red revolutionary" relics in the whole region, and Shanzhou Village is part of this program.

Revitalization work includes a winding "red revolutionary path"; well-preserved watchtowers; historical houses of overseas Chinese and a "red leisure tourism belt" with some small attractions which can awaken memories of revolution for soldiers and civilians who fought dauntlessly in Defense of Hengmen.

"The 'red path' in Shanzhou Village has a total length of 4 kilometers. There is a simple courier station on the top of the mountain. Tourists can look down and enjoy the idyllic scenery of Shanzhou Village. At the foot of the mountain there is a patriotic education base that collects and displays the red revolution historical resources of Shanzhou Village. Tourists can learn about the anti-Japanese war stories of Sun Kang, Ou Chu, and other revolutionary martyrs related to Shanzhou Village," said Wen Shiquan, section chief of the Recreation and Sports Education and Tourism Department of the Publicity Office of Torch Development Zone.

In recent years, Shanzhou Village has improved its appearance with "red revolution" eco-tours and has built the Shanzhou Ecological Park and the patriotic education base. "Many villagers who previously moved out of Shanzhou Village have now returned to repair their houses and enjoy the rural scenery here."
