On August 5, tourists from afar walked through the door of a small shop in the parking lot opposite the Former Residence of Dr Sun Yat-sen in Nanlang Town, and took photos with the bronze statue of Sun Yat-sen sitting on a stool.
The idea was from Liang Junjie, a post-90s "entrepreneur second generation" in Zhongshan, and the statue was created by a renowned sculptor in Xiaolan Town.
In 2013, Liang Junjie returned to his hometown after finishing his study in the United States and started his own business as a customized gift company. "I am a native of Zhongshan. In my heart, Sun Yat-sen is not a superior political figure, but is like an amiable and honorable grandfather next door. I hope that tourists who come to Zhongshan from all over the world can have close contact with 'him'. At the same time, Sun Yat-sen Culture should be implanted into cultural and creative products so that more people can get to know the great man and Zhongshan city."
The statue, 1.2 meters tall, depicts Sun Yat-sen as sitting on a stool with his hands leaning on crutches. It took five months from design to completion. After the statue was placed, many tourists were drawn in to take photos.
