Activities to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Chen Guanqing, a famous Cantonese Opera writer and musician, were organized at the Zhongshan Xiangshan Cantonese Opera Research Institute on December 23. The Museum of Chen Guanqing was subsequently unveiled to the public with free admittance.

The Museum is a complete replica of Chen Guanqing's residence during his lifetime and many original objects he used are displayed for the public. His plays, letters, and manuscripts are also displayed for the first time.

Since the 1940s, Chen Guanqing served as a playwriter and composer of many provincial opera troupes. Cantonese opera masters including Hung Sin Nui (Kwong Kin-lim), Sun Ma Sze Tsang (Tang Wing-cheung) all loved his works.
