The construction of Zhongshan Overseas Chinese Park has started on the former site of Zhongshan Nursing Home for the Aged recently.

The park will retain the buildings of commemorative value funded by overseas Chinese, including the Kangle Building (main tower), the Jiankang Building, the entrance building, and the three pavilions. These buildings will be renovated and reinforced with their original design elements and materials unchanged. The Kangle Building will be reserved for memorial exhibitions and circulating exhibitions, and serve as a venue for gatherings of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan compatriots and overseas Chinese.

Some dilapidated buildings in the park will be demolished, and two single-story modern courtyard complexes will be built on the former site.

One of the complexes, next to Qiwan Avenue, is named "Wenhuafang". It consists of five white houses in different shapes but with uniform style. Connected by corridors, it will be used to showcase overseas Chinese culture. Another complex featuring a traditional atrium-style garden layout will be planned as a cultural and creative place, as well as an activity base for Hong Kong and Macao youth.

The new park also includes well-equipped toilets and parking lots that are consistent with the park in design style and space use.
