The opening ceremony of the Xiao Youmei Art Museum, one of Zhongshan's commemorative activities for the 140th birth anniversary of Xiao Youmei, was held at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Secondary School on January 7.

Xiao Youmei, a famous musician born in Zhongshan, was a modern music educator, theorist and composer. He was a master in the history of modern Chinese music and a pioneer and founder of modern professional music education. Xiao was known as the "father of modern music education in China".

The Xiao Youmei Art Museum is built inside the art center of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Secondary School. Covering an area of 4,674.30 square meters, it includes a multi-functional concert hall that can accommodate up to 500 people, music classrooms, professional function rooms for dancing, folk music, wind music and chorus, as well as over 30 piano rooms for music performance and practice. A life story exhibition of Xiao Youmei is on display in the museum.
