Zhongshan unveils first child-friendly neighborhood

The "Child Cube", Zhongshan's first child-friendly neighborhood, has opened in Gangkou Town.

It connects nearly 30 child-friendly spaces, including Gangkou Children's Park, the Xiangshan Study for children, and the Poly children's friendly hotel, forming a growth network that blends fun, care and learning.

The city's first child-friendly colorful crosswalk features soft hues of bright yellow, light blue and lavender, creating a "child-safety barrier" that protects young pedestrians while adding vibrancy to the streetscape.

The renovated Gangkou Urban Hall, converted from an unused sales office, serves as a family-friendly hub, showcasing local industries and culture while incorporating child-friendly designs. Featuring a display area for intangible cultural heritage, an agricultural product showroom, and a trendy cafe, it aims creates an atmosphere where family interactions blend everyday warmth with cultural richness.

Within the hall, Zhongshan's first child-themed Xiangshan Study spans 253 square meters with 10,000 books. It includes a theater-like reading zone, a dedicated area for toddlers, age-appropriate furniture, and a "Kids' Voices" suggestion wall that allows children to contribute ideas to community planning.

The neighborhood also integrates local intangible cultural heritage, culinary traditions and science education through "play-and-learn" cultural workshops. Children can engage in hands-on activities such as fan DIY, first-aid games, and more.
