In golden autumn, bamboo groves sway and streams babble along the Shaye River in Qixi village of Wuguishan subdistrict. Every weekend, visitors flock to the riverside strip of new businesses — cafes, study-tour bases, riding stables, reading rooms and homestays.

Targeted treatment of domestic sewage, the separation of rainwater and sewage pipes, and landscaping work along the waterway have turned the Shaye River into a lively "waterfront living room" with clear water and green banks. It now hosts a growing number of cultural, sports and tourism events, grassroots briefings and demonstration classes.
