Washington Hago Mendizábal, the former Ecuadorian ambassador to China, returned home once more after 5 long years. He was accompanied by his 13-year-old grandson, Hermann. They both visited their ancestral home and the Chen's Ancestral Temple.

It is divided into three areas based on the town's geographical situation. There are 11 exhibition halls in the museum, named after the 11 administrative villages in Banfu. The museum also offers traditional cuisines to visitors.
